Job Description

Facilities Technician, North Shore & Piscataqua 4.9 4.9 out of 5 stars South Berwick, ME 03908 Historic New England seeks a full-time Facilities Technician to oversee and perform the critical maintenance of historic sites and tenant apartments owned by Historic New England in the North Shore and Piscataqua regions. Skilled and experienced, the Facilities Technician will work collaboratively with vested parties to see that contract maintenance is performed, to perform minor maintenance duties and repairs as necessary and appropriate, and to respond to emergencies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Coordinates cyclical maintenance activities at the assigned properties, documents the work, and ensures Historic New England standards are maintained. This may entail meeting and letting in contractors or coordinating with local staff for access. Monitors and collects data as required to support management of the sites. Performs minor maintenance activities at the sites as appropriate following Historic New England best practices and documents the work for the files. Responds to emergencies at the sites either in person or coordinates a response with the appropriate site or property care staff members.

QUALIFICATIONS

Four years of job-related experience in property management or a related field. Working knowledge of word processing, e-mail, internet research, spreadsheets, digital photography and project management software. Ability to operate effectively in a team environment, where communication within and among the teams is essential to success. Ability to interact and communicate orally and in writing is essential. Problem solving skills and ability to effectively plan and implement work processes to complete tasks according to schedule. A valid driver’s license and a means of transportation. New England based residency is required. Strong belief in, and demonstrated commitment to, Historic New England’s mission and values.
