Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; however, other duties may be assigned. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Assists and performs maintenance on repairs on City streets, curbs, sidewalks, parking lots, islands and other rights-of-way, drainage systems including culverts and ditches, park grounds, and facilities and buildings; Operates light to heavy equipment including trucks, backhoes, rollers, snowplows and spreaders, tractors, compressors, tamping machines, chippers, tar pots, bucket loaders, mowers, foggers, chainsaws, jack hammers, and various power and hand tools; Assists and performs seasonal tasks such as tree trimming and brush removal, grass and weed mowing and trimming, mosquito fogging, sewer cleaning, painting parking lot markings, building maintenance and repair, special events and holiday preparation; Operates snowplow and salt spreader as needed for snow removal and de-icing procedures; Assists with cleaning, removing, repairing, sealing, and replacing concrete, asphalt, storm lines, related drainage systems, and other items; Conducts yard waste program, loads contained yard waste into trailer; Assists with repairs and maintenance of City signs and traffic signals, damaged signs and signals, traffic light signals, and traffic marking signs; Assists with work zone traffic control; places barricades; flags traffic; Assists with repairs and maintenance of City facilities and buildings, and damaged buildings and equipment; Assists in preparing fields and park grounds for recreational programs and activities; Transports equipment and supplies to work sites; Assists in various cleaning and grounds keeping functions on City property including restroom cleaning, trash pickup, weed removal and related duties; Responds to emergency calls outside of normal working hours related to flooding and relief efforts, water main breaks, roadway obstructions, traffic problems and other issues as needed; and Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Duties No supervisory responsibilities. Education and Experience Required High School Diploma or equivalent with one (1) year experience in public works, construction, or equipment operation. Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
Must have a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake endorsement or obtain and maintain within six (6) months of employment.
