JOB OBJE CTIVE
This job consists of operating grass cutting equipment as well as other machinery toperform maintenance activities at county parks and recreational facilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
I. Operates hand and tractor-mounted mowers and hand-held string trimmers to cut grass in areasaround facilities; performs minor preventive maintenance on tractors and mowers; sharpens andreplaces blades on mowers2. Operates dump trucks and other vehicles3. Mixes and applies chemical agents, including fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, insecticides, andpesticides4. Cleans rest rooms and picks up debris5. Repairs and paints park benches and trash barrels; performs more building and plumbingmaintenance6. Operates light earth-moving equipment, including small backhoe, Bobcat, and front-end loader, asrequired for maintenance and development projects7. Operates light and medium duty trucks with trailers to transport equipment, materials, and suppliesto work sites, department facilities, and dumping areas8. Reports department facility equipment and buildings needing repair to the foreman or director9. Transports inmate crew members to assigned work sites and ensures all inmate crew members abideby the set rules put in place by the county or state correctional facility

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Some knowledge of maintenance requirements for light and medium duty trucks
- Skill in the operation oflight and medium trucks and trailers
- Skill in the operation of hand tools
- Skill in the operation of hand and tractor mounted mowing equipment
- Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions
- Ability to perform manual labor in all weather conditions
- Ability to locate assigned work sites from instructions or maps
- Knowledge of all related safety proceduresThese knowledge, skills, and abilities are usual(v, although not always, acquired through at least one year of experience in the operation of light and medium duty trucks and trailers; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills.

Must possess a valid Mississippi Driver’s License before employmentand maintain Ii censure for duration of employment in this position.
