We’re currently looking for a Maintenance Assistant to help us keep our properties running smoothly, inside and out. About the Role As a Maintenance Assistant, you’ll provide general support across several residential and administrative sites. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable with basic maintenance tasks and proactive in identifying issues before they become problems. You’ll work closely with our existing team and call on licensed professionals for major repairs or specialized work. Landscaping and exterior upkeep are a key part of this position. Primary Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs (e.g., patching walls, replacing hardware, painting, basic plumbing) Provide landscaping support: mowing, trimming, raking, leaf blowing, etc. Assist with seasonal projects like snow/ice prep, storm cleanup, and fall maintenance Monitor facility needs and report issues to the maintenance supervisor Support furniture moves, equipment deliveries, and dump runs as needed Help maintain maintenance logs, inventory, and supplies Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors for larger jobs, when needed Qualifications Working knowledge of hand tools, landscaping equipment, and basic home repairs Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently Must have a valid driver’s license and safe driving record Physical ability to lift, bend, carry, and work outdoors in various weather Prior experience in facility, grounds, or property maintenance preferred Position Details Competitive pay ($13 per hour or more, based on experience) Benefits available for full-time employees after 60 days (including health, dental, and vision) Monday-Friday schedule with occasional flexibility depending on needs Opportunities for growth in a mission-driven nonprofit environment
