JOB DESCRIPTION
Inspect different equipment and perform any basic repairs or preventative maintenance when required. Must have a general knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electricity, grounds keeping, masonry, and general maintenance. Must be able to do general repairs, building renovations and know his/her limitations referring to a specialist when in doubt. To do well in this role one should have previous experience in maintenance, be highly skilled with various hand and power tools, and be able to read blueprints and repair manuals. The employee should possess the ability to get along with others and be flexible in his/her schedule, responsibilities and work.
Must possess a variety of skills encompassing most of the construction trades.
A building maintenance workers must always remain aware of their limitations and request the services of a licensed professional when the workers lack of expertise or local ordinances require it.
Conduct regular inspections to determine areas that need attention and then perform the tasks.

Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience in building and grounds operations.
Desire to continue career improvement.
Familiarity with computers and software relating to maintenance and inventory.
Ability to read chemical labels.
Ability to read material safety data sheets (MSDS).Ability to initiate and complete work orders.
Have a valid drivers license, commercial Class•B preferred, able to drive, and qualify under the districts insurance carrier when driving a district vehicle.
Essential Functions:
Maintain school buildings and grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use of district facilities.
Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.
Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.
React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
Appropriately operate all equipment and machinery as necessary.
General ResponsibilitiesAssist in maintaining school buildings and grounds in top condition.
Assist in promoting the safety, health, and comfort of students and employees in school buildings and grounds.
Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects.
Perform preventative maintenance, repair, and installation in connection with:
Carpentry, electrical, masonry, and HVAC systems.
Exterior and interior of buildings.
School groundsMove equipment and materials within and between school grounds.
Work overtime when emergencies arise in order to prevent disruption of the schools.
Snow removal and treatment of walkways and parking areasAct as a substitute custodian when necessary.
Observe district policies at all times.
Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques.
Adhere to district health and safety policies.
Other duties assigned by the Buildings and Grounds Director or Administrative Staff.
