General Statement of Duties:
Maintains, troubleshoots issues and beautifies municipal downtown areas, including main streets, adjacent side streets, alleys, parking lots, parking garages and related areas; performs directly related work as required.
Examples of Essential Work:
Performs custodial oversight and preventative maintenance and mechanical duties within municipal facilities in the downtown area, including flooring, cleaning up spills, windows, window ledges, restrooms signage, and related; Collects litter and disposes of debris throughout the downtown area; Responds to inquiries regarding sharps waste and safely handles and disposes of these items; Uses hand tools such as waste picker, picks, shovels and rakes; Operates power equipment, including blowers, snow blowers, power trimmers, watering apparatus, Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV), paint sprayers, pressure washers and related;
- Operates Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) and/or city truck for downtown maintenance and waste removal, including trailer usage; Cleans, weeds, waters, and mulches flower beds and planters as needed; Prunes shrubbery and occasionally mows grassy areas as needed; Oversees sanitizing and the cleaning of kitchen areas, outdoor eating/sitting spaces, restrooms according to set policy and procedure to meet health standards; Oversight on inventories, supply replacement and proper storages of cleaning items and equipment; Oversees the cleaning and painting of downtown seating areas, planters, garbage receptacles, bike racks, and related for downtown beautification, as needed; Provides a safe, healthy downtown environment for all patrons and residents of the City; • Operates several pieces of machinery associated with building maintenance operations; • Performs troubleshooting and mechanical correction to equipment and parking meters as needed; • Performs collection of funds from parking meters as needed; • Addresses safety issues immediately within municipal downtown areas, including main streets, adjacent side streets, alleys, seating areas, parking lots, parking garages and related areas; • Oversees the monitoring of elevators, escalators and related pieces of equipment to ensure all functioning within compliance; • Performs snow removal, shovels, plows, salts, sands and maintains safe surfaces during inclement weather; Informs supervisor of any needed repairs and/or maintenance beyond the scope of position; Maintain an awareness of pedestrian and vehicle traffic in pedestrian areas and ensures safety of the public and City employees in painting and related operations; Monitors, cleans and maintains equipment in a safe operating condition and reports all damages to supervisor; Cleans, checks and maintains equipment used including oil, fuel, spark plugs, tires etc.

Acceptable Experience and Training:
Graduation from High School or possession of a GED; and Some experience in landscaping or related operations; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Required Special Qualifications:
Valid New Hampshire driver’s license.
