If you would like to learn more about us, please visit our website at: www.st-cath.org Position Overview The Maintenance III position is responsible for performing all maintenance tasks to improve the physical appearance, function, and operation of agency buildings, property and equipment. This individual must demonstrate the knowledge and application of commonly-used concepts, practices, and safety procedures in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, electrical, grounds keeping, pest management and vehicle servicing. Works under minimal supervision of the Director of Buildings & Grounds while also relying on experience and judgement to organize and complete tasks. - 4:00pm w/occasional weekends On-Call rotation. + High School diploma / GED Equivalent, required. + At least five years’ experience as a maintenance worker; Any combination of education, training, and experience
- which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described
- may be considered (or) three years as Maintenance II worker. + Significant knowledge in the use and care of all tools and equipment used in performing duties is essential. + Have the availability to respond to after-hours emergency maintenance calls, as needed. + Clean and Valid New York State Driver’s License (actively licensed at least one year) required
- + Capable of passing agency’s driver training course to drive a 8-15 passenger van.
+ Ability to understand emotionally disturbed children, tolerate frustration of children upsetting already cleaned or repaired areas. + Willing and able to work in close proximity with the clients we serve. + Qualities of positivity, flexibility and adaptability; A professional record of integrity, proven reliability and dependability. + Self-motivated and engaged with a strong attention to detail. + A professional record of integrity, proven reliability and dependability. + Capable of exercising ethical, independent judgment and discretion, and to safe-guard confidential information.
- Staff in driving positions must be able to meet the agency’s minimum requirements of our insurance policy for authorized drivers including, but not limited to, the minimum age of 21 at time of hire, with the ability to maintain insurability throughout employment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Performing general and extensive maintenance (cleaning, painting, repair work) of agency buildings and grounds to include but is not limited to: + Making minor and major carpentry, electrical, mechanical and plumbing repairs. + Assists with the renovation/remodeling of buildings. + Obtaining estimates for supplies, materials and repairs. + Safely uses hand tools, power tools, gas powered equipment and other equipment to make minor and major repairs, to maintain grounds and properties. + Ensures tools are readily available and in good working order and available for each task, including performing maintenance on the tools. + Follows all applicable safety rules, practices and procedures. + Maintains a safe working environment by ensuring that all tools, materials and supplies are kept out of reach of all clients and are properly stored. + Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required. + Assists the maintenance supervisor as needed. + Performing touch-up, priming, and finish painting of all agency properties. + Performing required yard work, during all four seasons. + Completing monthly agency vehicle inspections, and cleaning of the vehicles. + Maintaining records of scheduled maintenance and inspections. + Moving furnishings, supplies and equipment. + Picking up and delivering supplies and materials. + Cleaning rooms, hallways, restrooms, offices and stairwells. + Provide additional supervision of Maintenance I and Maintenance II staff as requested by the Director of Buildings & Grounds. + Primary job functions may require exercising independent judgment. + Other position-related duties as assigned by the Director.
