The Janitor is responsible for ensuring that the facility is clean and in good operating condition. This can include vacuuming, mopping, dusting surfaces, sanitizing restrooms, and taking out trash and recycling. The Janitor will make immediate minor repairs to the facility, reporting any maintenance or safety deficiency to the Maintenance Manager. The Janitor will have the following responsibilities: Adheres to established procedures to provide a safe working environment including complying with OSHA, state/local, federal, and Company regulations. Uses common cleaning tools and outdoor power equipment. Uses chemicals, accordingly, following SDS safety instructions for proper use and storage. Sweeps, mops, polishes, and vacuums floors. Cleans all exterior and interior windows, doors, and mirrors. Cleans, sanitizes, and stocks restrooms. Maintains hot beverage areas by cleaning counter surfaces, sinks & tables. Empties and cleans lunchroom refrigerators once a week. Follows procedures for storage and disposal of trash and transports it to designated areas. Handles leaves, branches, trash, and other exterior maintenance as required. Mows and trims lawns and shrubbery, using mowers, hand, and power trimmers, and clears debris from grounds. Removes snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers, snow shovels, and spreads snow melting chemicals. Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as employee events and Company meetings. Organizes the Janitorial Closet and stores all supplies and tools accordingly. Requisitions supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties. Completes minor repairs, such as switching lightbulbs, replacing signage, unclogging toilets, etc. Reports maintenance concerns via work order requests to appropriate personnel. Notifies Manager when major repairs are needed. Acts as a guide and liaison for various building or work contractors as assigned. Assists Technicians with preventive maintenance as needed. Follows written and verbal instructions. Attendance is essential to this job. Must also maintain dependability and punctuality as outlined in Attendance Policy.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required, Certificate or Associate’s degree in related field preferred. 1+ years of maintenance experience, preferably in an industrial and/or electro-mechanical manufacturing environment preferred. Prior experience with hand and power tools. Skilled in grounds maintenance. Understanding of OSHA required PPE and blood-borne pathogens. Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear. The ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 50 pounds and the ability to climb stairs as needed are required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Ability to handle minor repairs to properly repair interior building needs. Must have skills scraping, spackling, sanding, and painting. Efficient and organized. Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to work independently. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Excellent time management. Interest and aptitude for learning building maintenance skills. Competent written and verbal communication skills.
