Job Summary:

Join an elite mission at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Charleston, SC, and Joint Base Charleston, where your hands-on skills will support the infrastructure that empowers national security training. As a General Maintenance Worker with DAWSON’s facilities support team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the physical condition of mission-critical buildings and systems—ensuring safety, efficiency, and readiness across the expansive training campus. From basic repairs to preventive maintenance, your work will directly impact the operational excellence of a premier federal law enforcement facility.

Location:
Charleston, SC Responsibilities:

Perform a variety of general maintenance duties across FLETC buildings, including minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting tasks. Replace fixtures, switches, motors, broken windows, and plumbing components as needed. Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform routine preventive maintenance of mechanical and structural systems. Maintain logs of work performed and materials used, and report deficiencies or hazards to supervisors. Assist in basic HVAC and boiler support under the direction of certified technicians. Respond to maintenance service requests promptly, including emergency repairs and weekend/holiday shifts when required. Maintain safe, clean, and organized workspaces in accordance with OSHA and EPA standards.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years of recent experience (within the past 5 years) in general building maintenance and equipment operation in commercial or institutional environments. Proficient in basic mechanical, plumbing, and electrical repairs. Able to read and interpret maintenance manuals, schematics, and safety guidelines. Must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs., standing for extended periods, and working in varied environmental conditions. All work must meet the standards and codes set by federal, state, and local authorities.

Additional Requirements:

Journeyman-level licensing may be required for specific trades, depending on task assignment and local regulations.
