Bridge Crew Member (61033205) State of South Carolina – 2.9 Charleston County, SC Job Details Full-time $41,600 – $49,920 a year 1 hour ago Benefits Disability insurance Health insurance Dental insurance Tuition reimbursement Vision insurance Flexible schedule Life insurance Qualifications CDL Entry level Under 1 year Full Job Description Job Responsibilities Performs manual labor in bridge maintenance activities such as concrete placement, timber pile repairs, bridge joints, and bearing replacement or repairs, etc. Operates standard dump trucks and power tools such as circular saws, drill, band saws, chainsaws, grinders, jack hammers etc. in a safe and productive manner. Assists in the operation of CDL vehicles in accordance with State Fleet policies. Perform traffic control flagging operations to control flow of traffic to protect workers, general public, and equipment. Inspects and operates motorized vehicles and equipment and informs supervisor of necessary repairs. Assists in the operation of a crash truck during sweeping operation. Assists in operation of a sweeper, operates safely and productively. Assists in emergency and inclement weather operations, may include being available for extended working hours or 12-hour shifts. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum and Additional Requirements There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this classification.

Necessary Special Requirement:

A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required. Requires attainment of a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Physical Requirement:

The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. This position requires walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, and working in close proximity to motoring traffic and natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. Frequently exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions, noise, and oil or grease on a daily basis. Additional Comments Applications accepted on-line at careers.sc.gov.
