Position Overview The Plant and Equipment Technician III is responsible for the effective maintenance of fleet vehicles and mechanical equipment across all The Blood Connection facilities. This role supports the organization’s overall efficiency by ensuring that all facilities and equipment are fully operational, well-stocked, and maintained in a clean and organized condition. Essential Functions Fleet Vehicles (motor pool): Oversees the maintenance and maintenance records of the organization’s fleet vehicles Performs fabrication and assembly of metal structures and equipment using appropriate welding and cutting tools Schedules service and repair appointments; performs mechanical work on vehicles when qualified
Facilities:
Oversees the upkeep and maintenance of company grounds, including landscaping, irrigation, parking areas, exterior lighting, signage, waste areas, and other related assets Ensures proper documentation and scheduling of all maintenance tasks; performs maintenance when qualified
Buildings:
Manages and documents maintenance of company buildings, including both interior and exterior elements Coordinates maintenance schedules and completes maintenance tasks when qualified Ensures that building appearance is consistently clean, orderly, and well-maintained
Operational Equipment:
Oversees the scheduling and performance of equipment maintenance by operational staff Ensures proper documentation of all maintenance activities Assists with special projects as needed
Additional Responsibilities:
Provides support for bus deliveries and pickups as needed Follows all safety protocols and procedures Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Completion of technical or vocational training in building maintenance, or fleet (automotive and truck) service and repair; or a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience in these areas 5+ years of relevant experience strongly preferred Valid CDL with a clean driving record, or the ability to obtain a Class B license within 4 months of hire Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Proficient in following written and verbal instructions, including through management software systems Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to interact tactfully and professionally with patrons, donors, sponsors, and colleagues Comfortable working across all organizational levels in a diverse team environment Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with peers, staff, and leadership Creative thinker with strong problem-solving abilities Excellent problem-solving skills Must have dependable transportation Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
