Job Summary
The Maintenance Worker will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the safety and overall functionality of college buildings, grounds, and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, goodmunication skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced campus environment.
Job Duties
Responds to andpletes work orders for various maintenance projects and requests in a timely manner.
Performs basic plumbing maintenance, including repairing faucets, unclogging drain lines, rebuilding and replacing plumbing fixtures.
Performs electrical repairs, including replacing light fixtures, lightbulbs and electrical switches and receptacles.
Drywall repairs, painting, replacing ceiling tiles as well as carpet and floor tiles.
Perform routine and preventative maintenance and to assess condition of buildings/systems.
Assists with indoor and outdoor College event set-up and break-down, including tables, chairs, podiums, risers.
Mow, weed eat, prune, etc.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid state of Tennessee driver’s license
  • Must pass a background investigation, including a favorable motor vehicle record and criminal background report.
    Preferred Qualifications
    Previous experience as a Maintenance Worker.
    Kledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Kledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical skills.
  • Ability to use various tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work in different types of climates including both hot and cold, indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to regularly push, pull, lift, move and carry 50-75 pounds.
  • The ability to be able to work occasional overtime in the evenings as well as nights and weekends to support campus events and/or respond to maintenance and weather issues.
  • Able to climb and work from ladders and scaffolding.
  • Kledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
