Position Summary:
The Lead Cemetery Groundskeeper/Maintenance is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and care of cemetery grounds, landscaping, burial sites, and related facilities. This role combines hands-on groundskeeping with supervisory duties, ensuring all work meets the standards of respect, safety, and appearance appropriate for a cemetery setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Grounds Maintenance
- Supervise and perform mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, and general landscape maintenance.
- Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of cemetery property, including roads, walkways, gravesites, and common areas.
- Operate and maintain landscaping tools and machinery such as mowers, trimmers, tractors, and loaders. Burial & Interment Preparation
- Oversee the preparation of gravesites including excavation, backfilling, and setting of memorials.
- Coordinate with funeral directors and cemetery staff to ensure timely and respectful services.
- Verify burial plot locations using maps and records. Team Leadership
- Lead a team of groundskeepers by assigning daily tasks, providing training, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
