Madison, AL Job Summary Lead the plants Maintenance function in providing both a reactive and proactive, multi-skilled maintenance service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure. Responsible for planned scheduling creation and overseeing the adherence and timely completion of work carried out. Increase the plants operational effectiveness, improve on project delivery, mean time between failure and downtime reduction, and manage and implement improvement plans, driving Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to. Manage the team on technical best practice and establish standard policies and procedures whilst also mentoring and leading the department. Implement and manage continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Ensures that safe work practices are followed by maintenance staff and safety codes are met for all equipment. Ensures safety guards and interlocks are maintained and in working order. Coordinate the installation of new equipment and modification of existing equipment through in-house or contract labor. Trains, supervises, and mentors the maintenance team members. Ensures that all members understand their roles and accept their responsibilities Promotes communication and positive relations between maintenance team and all other departments. Establishes work priorities for the team and communicates maintenance schedules and objectives. Assists with projects as needed. Maintains an inventory of spare parts and tools, and orders replacements as required. Keeps operating costs at a minimum and the maintenance department within budget. Understands the specific environmental aspects and impact of maintenance duties and works toward reducing them. Assist contractors with equipment relocations and installations. Fabrication of mold, nesting, and minor fixtures. Assist with plant startups and equipment preparation for production, if needed. Inspect and monitor cooling tower systems and advise if action required. Installation of piping, tubing, and fittings for compressed air and water. Perform general repairs to plant facility and equipment. Assist with troubleshooting pneumatic systems including valves, regulators, filters, and actuators. Assist with troubleshooting hydraulic systems includes valves, pumps, filters/strainers, and flow control. Perform other maintenance related duties as assigned to meet departmental responsibilities. Job Qualifications High school diploma or GED and 3-5 years’ experience in maintenance or related trade. 3-5 years’ supervisory experience. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to lead and motivate people and encourage teamwork. Ability to communicate effectively with senior management. Working Conditions Physical Effort and Requirements of this Position While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized solutions. Able to assist with troubleshooting problem areas and to recognize and initiate corrective action or advise others of needed actions, as well as recommending suggestions for improvements. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
