12 Months Job Goal To support the effective and efficient operation of Montgomery Public Schools by supervising and performing the receipt, recording, inventory, and distribution of technology, building equipment, cafeteria equipment, and maintenance supplies. This role ensures accurate inventory management, team coordination, and the physical execution of logistics tasks across the district. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education and experience necessary to perform the duties of the position. Verified proof of successful work experience in logistics and supervisory roles is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Competency in using office equipment, including computers and scanners. Ability to possess and maintain a valid Alabama driver’s license and MPS insurable driving record. Successful clearance through FBI and ABI background checks. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work an eight (8) hour day and overtime as required. Proficient in computer operations for inventory software, reporting, and communication. Ability to follow and issue clear oral and written instructions. Ability to work independently and effectively lead small teams. Skilled in operating delivery trucks, forklifts, and other system-owned vehicles. Knowledge of safety rules and best practices in warehouse environments. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a diverse range of individuals.

Expanded Competencies Experience and Specialized Skills:

Proven experience in implementing and managing inventory control systems. Knowledge of procurement practices and supply chain optimization.

Technical Competence:

Familiarity with RFID/barcode scanning equipment and technologies. Capability to manage databases and generate detailed analytical reports.

Leadership Abilities:

Experience in conflict resolution and team-building strategies.

Communication Skills:

Strong ability to communicate with stakeholders, including vendors, school administrators, and finance teams, effectively.

Logistical Oversight:

Demonstrated ability in supervising the district’s printed material ordering process, including sourcing, scheduling, and coordinating distribution. Performance Responsibilities Supervise skilled laborers, helpers, and inventory staff in the department. Perform and lead the receipt, logging, barcoding, and system entry of all inventory items. Maintain and update the district-wide inventory system in coordination with finance and school-based personnel. Lead periodic audits and inspections of school inventory and ensure compliance with district policy. Prepare and submit monthly inventory reports and maintain organized records. Manage inbound and outbound logistics for printed materials and equipment. Travel throughout the district to conduct inventory audits and provide logistics support. Operate delivery vehicles and ensure safety and maintenance of transport operations. Report and maintain credentials required for equipment operation. Additional Responsibilities Perform additional duties as assigned by the Logistics Department Supervisor to support the goals of the department. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds of materials and equipment frequently. Ability to walk and stand for extended periods (up to 95% of shift). Regularly climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolds. Engage in frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and twisting. Tolerate exposure to varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and chemicals.
