First Coast Terminals is the nation’s leading multi-generational stevedoring and cargo operator committed to safety and the development of innovative solutions for the unique needs of the U.S. maritime industry, and they are seeking an Equipment Manager to join the team at our Jacksonville, FL terminal office.
In this position you will:
manage safe, efficient, cost effective equipment and Maintenance & Repair (M&R) functions to facilitate the movement of all cargo types; includes all activities. Develops and maintains appropriate business relationships with service providers, customers, regulatory bodies, and other business units.
Main Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Directly responsible for safe, efficient, and cost-effective Equipment and M&R operations. Directly supervise union employees, carrying out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, the CBA, and applicable laws, to evaluate, set and accomplish operations goals. Directly responsible for Safety Programs to include all recordable and lost time incidents at all operating locations related to equipment and M&R. Establish relationships with leasing companies, service vendors, and Customers. Manage equipment levels by size/type and owned/leased to meet the operational and financial needs of the organization. Manage purchasing, ordering of parts, entering P.O.s, approval of all equipment related costs and comply with the company’s purchasing policies and procedures. Maintain maintenance system and monitor status of repair on vehicles/equipment to ensure efficient turnaround, and oversee all work orders and costs related to work performed. Directly responsible for all recording and reporting to ensure accuracy. Establish and maintain policies consistent with Management goals and budgets. Protect and maintain company assets. Manage development of Capital and Operational Budgets for respective area. Report productivity and budgeting performances to Senior Operations Manager. Manage and ensure accommodation the equipment needs of other departments (i.e. Terminal, Vessel, Warehouse). Manage continuous improvement of the operating parameters of First Coast Terminals Fleet and M&R departments. Other tasks and projects, as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have:
Qualifications (Education, Experience, & Certifications) – BS in Management or 5 years equipment and/or M&R functions. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities – Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations. Ability to write reports, analysis, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Senior Management, groups of managers, clients, and customers. Bi-lingual not required but preferred. Why TOTE?
