Job Description:

Full-time, year-round position responsible for oversight of custodial services and grounds maintenance functions of the College. Position requires some evening/weekend work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversees Custodial Services Department, ensuring clean and sanitary facilities throughout college in accordance with Florida State Requirements for Educational Facilities (SREF) and College facilities maintenance standards. Oversees Grounds Maintenance Department, ensuring clean, safe, and attractive grounds at all College facilities in accordance with SREF and College facilities maintenance standards. Schedules and supervises staff as required to meet needs of the College, including day and night shift staff. Exhibits and maintains a cordial, friendly, courteous attitude to all College personnel, community resources, students and prospective students. Coordinates with Manger, Planning and Construction to ensure completion of inspections and maintenance of inspection reports including, but not limited to, SREF, preventive maintenance logs, elevators, fire extinguishers, suppression systems, sprinkler rises, backflow preventers, lift stations, fire escapes, fire systems, hoods, bleachers, and emergency generators. Assists Director, Facilities and Plant Operations and Manager, Planning and Construction to coordinate appropriate Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) inspections and required reports for all permitted water drainage facilities. Schedules OSHA training activities and monitors completion to ensure compliance. Assists Manager, Planning and Construction with college-wide key control, operating related key software and issuing and receiving keys as required. Produces reports and correspondence as needed. Assists Director, Facilities and Plant Operations in management of financial resources of Custodial Services and Grounds Maintenance departments including: a. Preparation of purchase requisitions and monitoring of purchase orders for Custodial Services and Grounds Maintenance departments, assigning proper coding and tracking encumbrance activity. b. Receives invoices from custodial and grounds vendors; verifies and prepares for payment, including checking for accuracy. c. Coordinates payroll data for Custodial Services and Grounds Maintenance department personnel and serves as backup payroll liaison. Assists in maintaining annual material and equipment inventory. Maintains open communication with faculty and general college staff in order to obtain information and status of quality and effectiveness on projects. Contributes to unit planning, assessment, and college institutional effectiveness efforts. Acts in accordance with local, state, and federal laws/regulations as well as College policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. This is a disaster essential position

Job Requirements:
Educational:

Associate degree in business, public administration, or related field required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experiential:

Increasingly responsible experience in custodial or grounds management supervising a large staff required. Government compliance and commercial experience preferred.

Other:

Excellent organizational and time management skills required.
