PURPOSE AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Maintenance Technician at Pathway Church is responsible for hands-on maintenance of the church building and grounds, covering approximately 80,000 sq ft and 44 acres. This role ensures operational excellence, cleanliness, and safety while working collaboratively with the Custodian, to uphold the church’s vision, mission, and values. The Maintenance Technician will handle the maintenance and repairs of structures, grounds, and common areas, providing the staff and congregation with the best resources for ministry and community activities. With a ministry-focused mindset, this individual will work as part of a unified team and lead by example through servant-leadership.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Support staff by maintaining office and ministry settings for optimal use.
  • Ensure the purchase and maintenance of supplies and equipment within the assigned budget.
  • Establish protocols for supply purchases and equipment usage.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors for facility installations and repairs.
  • Create and maintain an organized, clean, and safe shop environment.
  • Track and report activities using Microsoft software.
  • Maintain building security daily.
  • Utilize purchase orders to acquire materials for daily functions or repairs.
  • Diagnose, repair, and install as needed to manage facility.
  • Responsible for long-term maintenance planning under supervisor’s direction.
  • Coordinate and perform preventative annual and quarterly inspections.
  • Utilize eSpace to manage facility maintenance schedule.
  • Coordinate and perform setup and teardown for regular and special events.
  • Conduct outdoor grounds cleanup, parking lot care, and maintenance.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, projects, and manage time effectively.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and local requirements related to assigned work, including chemical hazard communication, MSDS training, hearing protection, lifting techniques, bloodborne pathogens training, risk management, safety incident reporting procedures, fire safety and prevention, emergency/evacuation procedures, and other safety guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail to achieve high-standard results.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Develop volunteer teams to assist with projects.
  • Attend weekly meetings with the supervisor and staff.
  • Build relationships with volunteers, ministry leaders, staff, and outside vendors.
  • Trusted individual with a servant’s heart, committed to high-performing team dynamics and follow-through ability.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills to work well with others, actively listen, accept criticism, and resolve interpersonal conflicts productively.

  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Executive Pastor of Operations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Ability to perform repetitive light lifting, climb ladders, kneel, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to reach, bend, stoop, push, pull, and crawl.
  • Proficient and safe use of maintenance equipment, power tools, and hand tools.
  • Ability to handle chemicals, paints, varnishes, stains, etc.
  • Ability to lift and move at least 50 pounds.
  • Good close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Adherence to proper lifting techniques.
  • Wear appropriate footwear for maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance and exhibit a positive attitude while representing the church.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of general building maintenance.
  • Volunteer team recruitment, training, and support.
  • Ability to write and speak English fluently.
  • Possess a current driver’s license.
  • Authorized to work in the USA.
  • Must pass: criminal history check.

WORK SCHEDULE
  • Normal work schedule is Monday to Friday.
  • Flexibility is required to work some nights and weekend days.
