This role ensures that all vehicles are maintained in a safe, compliant, and cost-effective manner, minimizing downtime and maximizing equipment reliability. The ideal candidate has hands-on mechanical knowledge, strong organizational skills, and experience managing third-party vendors and/or a small in-house maintenance team. Responsibilities Schedule and coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs for all trucks, trailers, and related equipment. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and inspections. Monitor vehicle performance and identify recurring mechanical issues or safety concerns. Work closely with drivers to ensure vehicle issues are promptly reported and resolved. Negotiate and manage relationships with outside repair shops, parts suppliers, and service providers. Ensure compliance with federal and state transportation safety regulations, including DOT inspections. Monitor maintenance costs and recommend cost-effective solutions to reduce expenses. Oversee parts inventory, ordering, and tracking of usage. Develop and maintain a maintenance calendar and inspection schedule. Support onboarding new trucks and equipment (initial inspections, upfitting, etc.).

Qualifications:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required; technical school or certification in diesel mechanics is a plus. 2+ years of experience in fleet maintenance, preferably in the trucking or logistics industry. Strong knowledge of diesel engines, brakes, electrical systems, and trailer equipment. Understanding of

DOT/FMCSA

maintenance requirements and safety standards. Ability to use maintenance tracking software or fleet management systems. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.

Work Environment:

Split between shop/yard environment and office setting. May require occasional lifting of heavy parts or tools. Some on-call or after-hours availability may be required for emergencies.
