Service Job Summary:

The Shop Foreman at Bomnin Automotive plays a vital role in overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the service department. This position is responsible for supervising technicians, ensuring efficient workflow, and maintaining high-quality standards in vehicle repairs and service. The Shop Foreman is a key member of the service leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:
Supervision:

Provide leadership and guidance to a team of automotive technicians and service advisors. Assign work orders and responsibilities to technicians based on their skills and expertise. Monitor technician productivity and efficiency, making adjustments as needed to meet service goals. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.

Quality Control:

Ensure that all vehicle repairs and maintenance services meet or exceed dealership and manufacturer quality standards. Perform quality checks on completed work to verify accuracy and thoroughness. Address any issues or concerns related to the quality of repairs promptly.

Technical Support:

Assist technicians in diagnosing complex vehicle issues and provide technical guidance as needed. Stay updated on industry trends, technical service bulletins, and manufacturer recalls.

Workflow Management:

Prioritize repair orders based on urgency and customer needs. Coordinate with service advisors to provide accurate repair estimates and timeframes. Monitor the progress of repair orders to ensure timely completion. Address any delays or issues that may affect service efficiency.

Customer Satisfaction:

Interact with customers as needed to address questions or concerns related to vehicle service. Strive to provide excellent customer service and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.

Safety and Compliance:

Ensure that all safety protocols and procedures are followed in the service department. Monitor compliance with environmental regulations and disposal of hazardous materials. Promote a safe and clean working environment.

Inventory Management:

Oversee the availability of necessary parts and equipment for vehicle repairs. Maintain accurate records of parts usage and reorder supplies as needed.

Training and Development:

Identify training needs for technicians and coordinate training programs. Support the development of technical skills and knowledge among team members.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training is a plus.
  • Must be GM Technical Trained 100% in all categories and hold Master ASE certification.
  • Proven experience as an automotive technician or in a similar role.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using automotive diagnostic equipment and tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and customer-focused dealership environment.
Physical Demands:

The position may require standing, walking, and lifting objects of various weights. Physical agility and dexterity are needed for inspecting vehicles and equipment. The Shop Foreman may need to bend, stoop, and reach in the course of their duties.

Work Environment:

The Shop Foreman primarily works in the service department of Bomnin Automotive. The role involves frequent interaction with service technicians, service advisors, and customers.

At-Will Employment:

This is an at-will employment position, which means that either the employee or Bomnin Automotive may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause and with or without notice.

Other Duties:

Please note that this job description is not exhaustive, and other duties may be assigned as needed by the Service Manager/Director or Service Operations Director.
