Summary:

Supervises and leads maintenance and facilities employees to perform diagnosis, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, facility, and project work in a timely, accurate, and optimal manner that improves overall equipment availability and reliability. Provides the team with tactical leadership and support to ensure the highest level of customer service and satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Build and maintain relationships with safety and production supervisors to maximize cooperation and coordination of maintenance and facilities activities. Supports maintenance management in ensuring we provide transparency to safety and operations. Responsible for reviewing and managing the daily work of the facilities and maintenance as well as janitorial services teams. Reviews work requests, sets priorities for daily work. Supports the team to ensure they have the tools and materials required to perform the job in the most efficient and effective manner. Assists the maintenance manager in measuring and reporting maintenance key performance indicators including analysis for root cause of re-occurring issues. Delivers timely resolution of action items, works with production colleagues to remove barriers, and addresses issues to constantly promote a culture of continuous improvement. Drives housekeeping standards across all maintenance owned areas. Supports the maintenance and facilities team goal to lead by example as we continue to raise the bar for housekeeping and 5s throughout both facilities. Supports maintenance management in completing action items related to our 3-year strategic facilities and maintenance plan. Responsible for scheduling preventive maintenance and project work. Ensures timely completion of maintenance, facilities, and janitorial work. Estimates labor hours, manpower, parts, materials, equipment, and special tools required to complete proactive jobs in a safe and cost-effective manner. Gathers relevant technical documentation such as drawings, schematics, specifications, spare parts lists from equipment histories, OEM manuals and the maintenance SharePoint site. Verifies the availability of, or orders parts prior to scheduling the job. Arranges for special tools and auxiliary equipment when required. Organizes and leads planning & scheduling meetings with the different Production departments to determine work order priorities, communicate work order status and alter planned maintenance activities if necessary. Analyzes and updates Preventative Maintenance Plans for accuracy and effectiveness. Improves work order planning and scheduling effectiveness through the review process and use of maintenance metrics. Responsible for supervising and leading the Janitorial services teams at both production facilities. Drives cleanliness standards and ensures the team have the supplies and support they need to perform their work at a high level. Serves as the first escalation point for the maintenance, facilities, and janitorial teams and provides them with guidance when required. Escalates to the maintenance manager when required. Supervises employee activities. This includes evaluation and disciple; overall performance management; training and development; analyzing and resolving work problems; initiating or suggesting plans to support the team in achieving goals; effective communication with associates. Maintains safe working conditions in all maintenance areas. Continually working on safety awareness with associates. Enforces safety rules and promotes a proactive safety culture Inspects department work to verify conformance to specifications and direct any adjustments as needed. Ensures that the team meets or exceeds all safety and quality of work requirements. Studies department work schedules and estimates employee hour requirements for completion of work. Establishes work procedures to meet department schedules and goals. Continually works on process improvement and department efficiency. This includes recommendations to improve production methods, equipment performance, overall work quality, working conditions, and use of equipment. Communicate regularly with production and safety supervisors to coordinate activities and keep them updated on any critical repairs. Works with our maintenance and facilities purchaser to identify and sources parts, supplies and repair items, as necessary.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Education and Experience Required:

5+ years in a manufacturing environment. Preferably in the boat building business. Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, trade school, certifications, and experience. Knowledge of HVAC equipment, industrial plumbing, and air supply, electrical, mechanical, fluid power and control systems. Previous experience with continuous improvement methodologies, such as LEAN, TPM, and six sigma are preferred. Understanding of and experience with FRP [Fiber Reinforced Plastics] processes and equipment is preferred. Knowledge of OSHA health and safety standards and compliance, and a fundamental understanding of applicable governmental regulations. Solid understanding of the manufacturing environment, facilities, grounds, and security protocols. Proven ability to effectively lead and direct the work of others, and delegate. Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with supervisors and managers to maximize cooperation and coordination of maintenance and facilities activities. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex problems and offer working solutions.

Physical and Work Requirements:

Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature. Must be able to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods. You must wear proper safety equipment as required by company policies. Must be able to lift 40 pounds when necessary. The ability to see details at close range. Must have and maintain a current driver’s license. Must be a licensed driver with a safe driving record (subject to MVR)
