Job Description :

Heartland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a skilled and dedicated Director of Maintenance to lead our Maintenance Department. This vital leadership role ensures that our facility remains a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for both residents and staff by overseeing all maintenance operations, policies, and personnel.

Key Responsibilities :

Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate the Maintenance Department’s activities and programs. Develop and maintain written maintenance policies and procedures. Support maintenance staff with the application of policies, procedures, and use of equipment and supplies. Conduct annual reviews of departmental policies and job descriptions, recommending updates to the Administrator. Communicate departmental policies to employees, residents, visitors, and regulatory agencies. Collaborate with other departments such as Nursing, Dietary, and Activities. Prepare reports and recommendations on maintenance operations for the Administrator. Submit accident/incident reports to HR within 24 hours of occurrence. Partner with the Infection Control Coordinator to evaluate job functions with potential exposure risks. Conduct routine inspections of storage rooms, janitorial closets, and workspaces. Participate in surveys and inspections by government agencies. Develop corrective action plans for deficiencies identified during inspections. Monitor industry and economic trends to recommend operational adjustments. Maintain accurate records of departmental activities, supplies, and equipment usage. Ensure all vendor-contracted services are properly completed and documented. Conduct regular environmental and safety compliance inspections. Maintain and update life safety and preventive maintenance logs in the facility’s digital system. Prioritize and delegate work orders, ensuring timely and efficient resolution. Assign a designated staff member to oversee department operations during absences. Assist with annual budget planning and monitoring departmental expenses.

Requirements :

Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory maintenance role. Prior experience in a nursing home or healthcare facility strongly preferred. Strong team player who collaborates effectively and maintains a positive attitude. Empathetic and professional when interacting with residents and families. Demonstrates ownership, responsibility, and attention to detail in task execution. Proactive problem-solving and sound decision-making skills.
