OUR TEAM AS A FLEET MAINTENANCE MANAGER!
The Fleet Maintenance Manager role involves highly responsible administrative work in managing County fleet management and maintenance operation. Essential Job Functions Plans and directs a maintenance program for all County vehicles and equipment. Manages maintenance shops and parts rooms, and acts as liaison with County departments. Reviews all vehicle and equipment modification or alteration. Responsible for the training and development of thirty five (35) technicians and other team members. Reports directly to the Fleet Management Director. Performs related work as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of public administration applicable to fleet maintenance. Knowledge of the organization and function of County government. Knowledge of various department operations. Ability to plan and execute policies and programs. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with departments, employees, outside agencies, and the general public. Ability to assemble and organize statistical information derived from a variety of sources and present same in oral or written form. Ability to compose professional/business letters, exercise independent judgment and manage, and supervise assigned personnel. Knowledge of light to medium duty automobiles and trucks. Knowledge of heavy construction and off road equipment. Knowledge of emergency response units (ambulances and engines). Knowledge of computer skills (MS Office Professional) as well as fleet management software. Ability to write and interpret specifications. Minimum Requirements
PHYSICAL SKILLS
Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written, and visual communication.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Public Administration, or related field. Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in public/government administration and fleet management/maintenance operation with the last three (3) years as a supervisor or higher required. Applicants who do not meet the Bachelor’s Degree requirement may be considered with a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license. NAFA Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) or APWA Public Fleet Professional certification preferred.
