Full Job Description Director of Aviation Maintenance Job Description Position Summary:

The Director of Aviation Maintenance is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and airworthiness of the company’s aircraft fleet. This role ensures that all maintenance activities are performed in compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. The Director of Aviation Maintenance will lead a team of skilled maintenance professionals and work closely with other departments to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the aviation department.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:

Provide leadership and direction to the aviation maintenance team. Develop and implement maintenance policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the highest levels of safety and efficiency. Oversee the recruitment, training, and performance management of maintenance personnel.

Maintenance Operations:

Ensure all aircraft maintenance activities comply with FAA regulations, manufacturer guidelines, and company policies. Develop and manage the maintenance schedule to minimize aircraft downtime and ensure operational readiness. Oversee the inspection, repair, and modification of aircraft and components.

Quality Assurance and Safety:

Implement and maintain a robust quality assurance program to ensure all maintenance activities meet regulatory and company standards. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments, implementing corrective actions as necessary. Promote a culture of safety within the maintenance department.

Financial Management:

Develop and manage the maintenance department’s budget, ensuring cost-effective operations. Monitor and control maintenance expenses, including parts, labor, and outsourced services. Negotiate contracts with vendors and service providers to optimize costs and service quality.

Strategic Planning:

Develop long-term plans for the maintenance department, including fleet management, technology upgrades, and process improvements. Collaborate with senior management to align maintenance operations with corporate goals and objectives. Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements, recommending and implementing changes to enhance operational efficiency and safety.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Maintenance Management, Aeronautical Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in aviation maintenance, with at least 2 years in a leadership role is preferred. Extensive knowledge of FAA regulations and corporate aviation maintenance standards. A&P License (AI Qualification preferred)
