The Division of Animal Resources, within the Emory National Primate Research Center at Emory University Field Station (Lawrenceville, Georgia), is currently seeking Compound Maintenance Supervisor to join our team. The Division of Animal Resources’ work consists of providing husbandry and care for a large colony of nonhuman primates in an open campus type setting. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated, extremely dependable, reliable, detail-oriented, and possess a positive attitude and passion for animal care in a research environment. The Compound Maintenance Supervisor will be a team player who is willing to learn on the job and collaborate with coworkers and other departments at the facility. The Compound Maintenance Supervisor will work to ensure the highest quality of husbandry and care. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises the daily tasks performed with Compound Maintenance Technicians. Ensure tasks performed by Compound Maintenance Technicians are done in accordance with SOPs and in a safe and consistent manner, to protect non-human primates (NHPs) and Field Station personnel working with and around NHPs. Coordinates compound lock-ins for NHPs, with Animal Care staff and other departments at the Field Station. Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A high school diploma or equivalent. Three (3) years of experience in a similar field, such as cage washing, is necessary. Lab animal setting experience is strongly preferred. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. Knowledge of associated machinery and tools, such as pressure washing equipment, is necessary. Animal behavior experience specifically with NHPs.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:30am – 4:00pm. Outdoor work environment (weather conditions and insects for example). Work environment involves working around biohazardous blood and tissues. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Requires the ability to bend, kneel, and/or squat. Requires significant walking.
