PRIMARY PURPOSE

Assist Maintenance Manager in managing the maintenance and engineering department. Acts as Maintenance Manager in his/her absence. Position requires demonstration of competency for all on-the-job activities that may have a direct or indirect effect on product safety, legality and/or quality.

PRINCIPAL

ROLES and

RESPONSIBILITIES

▪ Promotes Company EEO policies, and other AAP and local work policies ▪ Assists Maintenance Manager in the performance of his/her duties ▪ Performs the duties of Maintenance Manager in his/her absence. ▪ Supervises, trains, and directs maintenance personnel. ▪ Set up and track all maintenance activities, costs, hours, etc. through a computerized tracking system. ▪ Read, understand, interpret and implement schematics and mechanical drawings. ▪ Supervises and engages in installation of equipment, while reducing operating costs by assisting in the negotiation of service contracts. ▪ Direct the preventive maintenance program under GMP guidelines. ▪ Participate in customer audits as required ▪ Supervises and, when necessary, participates in the repair and maintenance of machinery and equipment. ▪ Promotes and maintains good employee relations. ▪ Position is responsible for ensuring staff is fully trained in and operates within the parameters of the facility’s Security Program with regards to site and product security. ▪ Oversee the purchase, storage, and repair of spare parts ▪ Key Area Leader in the implementation of ISO procedures ▪ Manage the custodial and Sanitation issues in the plant. ▪ Performance of other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies and other applicable operating rules, policies and procedures. ▪ May be required to perform other duties not listed within the job description .

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
  • Education and/or on-the-job experience needed ▪ BS Engineering degree or related field or equivalent.

▪ Five to Ten years’ related Maintenance & Engineering experience. ▪ Knowledge of PLC’s, DC motors and drives a plus. ▪ Supervision in a Union environment helpful. ▪ License as required by State, Industry, City, County (boiler, refrigeration, etc.) May be required to possess/maintain a valid license to operate applicable heavy equipment, including forklift. Industry-specific knowledge, skills & abilities needed: ▪ Demonstrated knowledge in Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning; Refrigeration, Welding, Electronics/Electrical Equipment repair, Industrial Equipment installation, start-up repair, PLC and DC motor and drives etc. ▪ Ability to distinguish color coded equipment. Must be able to hear and identify audible alarm systems. Must be able to hear see and identify normal and abnormal equipment status, monitor equipment operation, see panels, lights controls, etc Functional/Job-Related knowledge, skills & abilities needed: ▪ Problem Identification & Resolution

WORKING CONDITIONS

▪ Normal, no adverse or hazardous conditions. ▪ 25% of time spent in Office environment meetings, 75% walking, working in manufacturing or support areas, troubleshooting equipment (includes the ability to tolerate heights on top of equipment and roof). Will be subjected to normal manufacturing noises, odors, and required PPE. Must be in good physical condition. ▪ Minor travel is required. Ability to work flexible hours and holidays. On call via phone at all times (cell phone provided). ▪ Reasonable accommodations will be considered on a case by case basis.
