Job Description:
Maintenance Technician The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the daily troubleshooting, repair, and preventive/predictive maintenance of automated material handling equipment (MHE). This role requires strong problem-solving skills, technical aptitude, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Perform repair and maintenance on MHE systems, including belt tracking, component adjustments, replacements, lubrication, and other mechanical tasks. Complete scheduled preventive maintenance routines and accurately document procedures and findings. Use electrical testing equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical circuits and components. Create and close work orders in the asset management system, ensuring all relevant data is entered, including labor hours, equipment details, and parts used. Diagnose conveyance issues and determine necessary tools, parts, and resources to resolve problems effectively. Locate, track, and manage spare parts inventory as needed for repairs and maintenance. Perform complex equipment testing to ensure operational standards and specifications are met. Assist in training customers or team members on equipment operation and maintenance procedures. Respond to service calls promptly and resolve equipment faults and failures to minimize downtime. Identify, assess, and resolve equipment issues, escalating when appropriate to ensure continuity of operations. Foster positive working relationships across teams and departments, contributing to a collaborative work environment. Education & Training High school diploma or equivalent required. Specialized technical certifications in electrical, mechanical, or automation systems are a plus.
Preferred Technical Skills Electrical:
Troubleshooting skills including AC wiring, motor systems, power distribution, electrical schematics, and control panel maintenance.
Mechanical:
Experience with gearboxes, sprockets, chains, bearings, guide rollers, and related components.
Automation:
Familiarity with servo drives, PLCs (especially Allen-Bradley RSLogix5000), PC-based controllers, DC power supplies, and optical sensors such as encoders and photo eyes.
Network Communications:
Knowledge of or exposure to DeviceNet, PROFIBUS, Ethernet, or similar communication systems is a plus.
Software:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
