We are in Rock Spring, GA, and operate on 3 shifts with 400 employees. We have three main manufacturing departments, Casting, Machining, and Press Assembly. We are part of Hitachi Astemo, inc. with 90,000 employees worldwide.

Tasks and Responsibilities :

As a Casting Maintenance Technician at Hitachi Astemo Rock Spring, Inc., you will play a critical role in our Casting department, responsible for the maintenance and repairs of casting equipment. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will ensure the continuous and efficient operation of the casting process, contributing to the production of high-quality cast aluminum products. Your technical skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety will be essential in maintaining and optimizing equipment performance. Perform preventative maintenance activities on casting equipment, following established schedules and checklists to ensure optimal machine performance. Conduct inspections and troubleshoot equipment issues, implementing appropriate solutions to minimize production downtime. Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor and Engineering team to identify and resolve equipment issues, contributing to continuous improvement efforts. Record maintenance activities, including repairs performed, parts used, and equipment downtime, in maintenance logs for documentation and analysis. Support equipment setup and changeovers, ensuring proper installation and functionality of casting molds. Adhere to safety guidelines, procedures, and lockout/tagout protocols during all maintenance activities, fostering a safe work environment. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the smooth production flow and on-time delivery of cast parts. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by providing suggestions for process enhancement and equipment optimization. Attend training sessions and stay updated on new casting technologies and maintenance best practices. When accomplishing tasks, remember to work toward meeting overall company goals established which include, OSHA safety compliance, ISO 14001 Environmental Compliance, Ethical & Legal compliance, Customer Quality, Production to Plan, and Delivery Performance.

Safety & Environmental:

Adhere to safety guidelines, procedures, and regulations to foster a safe work environment for all team members. Support environmental initiatives and comply with relevant environmental regulations and standards.

Quality :

Collaborate with Quality Assurance teams to ensure that casting processes meet established quality standards and specifications. Monitor equipment performance and notify the Maintenance Supervisor of any quality-related concerns or potential improvements.

Delivery :

Work efficiently and effectively to meet production schedules and minimize production downtime. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to prioritize maintenance tasks and ensure timely completion.

Productivity :

Identify opportunities for productivity improvements within the casting process and equipment maintenance, collaborating with the Maintenance Supervisor to implement measures that increase efficiency and optimize resource utilization.

Reporting:

Provide regular reports to the Maintenance Supervisor on maintenance activities, equipment performance, and improvements implemented. Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor to gather and analyze data for reporting purposes, ensuring accuracy and relevance.

Key Metrics Responsibility:

Monitor key performance metrics related to casting equipment maintenance, including equipment uptime, mean time between failures (MTBF), and mean time to repair (MTTR). Analyze and interpret data to identify areas for improvement and drive performance optimization.

Preferred Skills:

Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills, enabling efficient equipment maintenance and repairs. Experience in conducting preventative maintenance and troubleshooting equipment issues. Knowledge of casting equipment and processes, understanding the specific maintenance requirements. Attention to detail and ability to follow maintenance procedures precisely. Effective communication and collaboration skills to work as part of a team and coordinate with cross-functional teams.

Minimum Experienced Preferred:

High school diploma or equivalent. Prior experience in equipment maintenance or a related field preferred, demonstrating familiarity with maintenance practices and troubleshooting techniques. Basic understanding of casting processes and equipment maintenance requirements. Ability to read equipment manuals, schematics, and technical drawings to support maintenance activities.

Physical Demands:

Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing for extended periods, performing physically demanding tasks, and occasionally lifting heavy objects.
