JOB SUMMARY:

Under limited supervision, provides professional support in one or more of the following areas: OMAT, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental or traffic. May also serve in a lead role.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES

Implements preventive maintenance and safety programs and performs routine inspections to ensure compliance. This positions primary focus will be in the fields of facility construction/maintenance and electrical repairs to other assets, both performing the activities and inspecting the work of subordinates.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications.

STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or

GED AND 18

months of experience at position equivalent.

AGENCY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

One year experience in a lead/supervisory role Experience in new construction and in the maintenance of facilities/assets including but not limited to buildings, tunnel lighting and roadway lighting Aerial Basket Truck certification A working knowledge of the methods of building construction, maintenance, and repair or of the techniques required of a specialty area such as welding, carpentry, electrical and plumbing. Experience reading and understanding plans, standards, specifications and building codes Experience gathering information needed in selecting, purchasing, and distributing appropriate materials to complete project Experience in measuring for calculating appropriate quantities and to perform basic mathematical calculations used in determining materials needed for assigned tasks Ability to supervise others. Ability to assist/teach others by guiding and providing constructive feedback Ability to interact with others to influence, motivate, and challenge them Experience managing work activities without direct supervision, working independently, and being self-motivated Committed to providing quality customer service Knowledge of appropriate procedures and equipment to enhance work process efficiency Experience receiving and responding to verbal instructions in an appropriate manner, completing required forms and reports and expressing ideas clearly and effectively through oral and written communications Experience making well-informed decisions using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and recommend solutions Displaying a high commitment toward work, a high standard of ethical conduct.

AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Successful completion of a post-secondary vocational/technical school program in a skilled trade (e.g., electrical, carpentry, plumbing) AND Two years of experience in building repairs and maintenance or in the specific area of assignment

Actions that may disqualify an applicant include letters of reprimand (active for 12 months after issuance date); suspension without pay or disciplinary demotion (active for 12 months from the effective date); Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and Leave Restriction Plans (active until 12 months after the date of conclusion). In addition, an employee must have an overall ePerformance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation. Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors. Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employee’s favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
