Forecasts goals and objectives for the departments and strivesto meet them. Hires, trains, motivates, and monitors the performance of theservice and parts department managers. Prepares and administers an annual operating budget for theservice and parts departments. Maintains reporting systems required by general management andthe manufacturer. Attends managers meetings. Monitors the performance of the service, parts, and body shopdepartments. Strives for harmony and teamwork within the departments andwith all other departments. Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal,state, and local regulations that affect repair operations, such ashazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc. Understands and ensures compliance with manufacturer warrantyand policy procedures. Holds weekly department meetings. Establishes and maintains good working relationships withcustomers to encourage repeat and referral business. Fosters professional employee development and coordinates withdepartment managers to determine need for advanced training. Maintains high-quality service repairs and minimizes comebacks.

Conducts periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughnessand quality. Makes customer satisfaction a department priority, ensuringthat service and parts personnel are courteous and respectful intheir interaction with customers. Handles customer complaints immediately and according todealership’s guidelines. Administers warranty claims, reviews warranty policyadjustments, understands and applies warranty guidelines, ensurescorrect processing of claims, and communicates warranty informationand clarifications to customers. Develops dealership service and parts pricing plans andrecommends to dealer or general manager. Works with parts and service managers to find ways to improvethe overall profitability of the dealership. Keeps abreast of new equipment and tools available andrecommends purchases. Establishes and maintains good working relationships withvocational and technical schools to enhance personnel recruitmentactivities. Serves as liaison with factory representatives. Maintains safe work environment. Maintains a professionalappearance.

EDUCATION and/or

EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university;or one to two years related experience and/or training; orequivalent combination of education and experience. Four to ten years related experience and/or training; orequivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general businessperiodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, orgovernmental regulations. Ability to write reports, businesscorrespondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectivelypresent information and respond to questions from groups ofmanagers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific andtechnical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Abilityto respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers,regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Abilityto write speeches and articles for publication that conform toprescribed style and format. Ability to effectively presentinformation to top management, public groups, and/or boards ofdirectors. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complexdocuments. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitiveinquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articlesusing original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to makeeffective and persuasive speeches and presentations oncontroversial or complex topics to top management, public groups,and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts,interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area,circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basicalgebra and geometry. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probabilityand statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solidgeometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such asfractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practicalsituations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, anddraw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive varietyof technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and dealwith several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinkingto a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability todeal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations,graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Abilityto deal with a variety of abstract and concretevariables.
