Job Description
Highly responsible supervisory, administrative, and technical role overseeing electricians and maintenance personnel in the construction, installation, repair, and servicing of electrical, communications, and electronics systems. Manages panel boards, communication systems, lighting (interior, exterior, and airport runway), electrical circuits, generators, pumps, motors, and related equipment. May perform electrical work. Troubleshoots electrical issues, updates plans, and ensures code compliance by coordinating with contractors, consultants, and government agencies. Oversees projects from initiation to completion, documenting problems, recommending solutions, and preparing maintenance schedules, job plans, and purchase requisitions. Produces reports on project status. Responds to all electrical emergencies and performs additional duties as required. This position is essential; employees must report to work during natural disasters or emergency situations. Minimum Qualifications A valid driver’s license.
- Applicants must be eligible for coverage under the airport’s auto liability insurance policy. An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- A valid Class “A” Master Electrical License
- or a Louisiana State Electrical License.
Out of area licenses are acceptable. However, if hired, the candidate must show proof of an active Class “A” Master Electrical License with the City of New Orleans or a Louisiana State Electrical License within one hundred and (120) days of hire. Failure to do so will result in termination. Eight (8) years of full-time paid experience as a licensed electrician with at least five (5) years of this experience at an airport facility. OR Eight (8) years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance engineering, design, commissioning, maintenance, or manufacturing, with at least five (5) years of recent experience in large and complex work environments such as hospitals, municipalities, post-secondary campuses, or industrial plants and must have included journeyman level electrical work. AND At least three (3) years of lead level or supervisory experience managing teams. If hired, Aviation employees must maintain all required licenses, permits, certificates, and auto liability insurance eligibility during the duration of their employment. Failure to comply with any of the above listed provisions may result in termination.

WORKING TEST PERIOD
Effective August 1, 2023, the working test (probationary) period for all positions in the classified service is one year.

GOOD MORAL CHARACTER

IMPORTANT
