SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of plant maintenance coordination including leading and directing maintenance technicians. Foster a well-trained and motivated staff. Assist the Maintenance Manager to direct and coordinate maintenance policies and procedures while maintaining a safe and clean environment. The Maintenance Supervisor will manage and oversee the preventative maintenance and repairs of equipment. Quickly assess problems to minimize downtime of production. The Maintenance Supervisor must possess knowledge of SQF Quality Management policies and procedures along with GMP practices to ensure all maintenance employees understand and follow the company policies and procedures.

RESPONSBILITIES

Plan all projects and Preventative Maintenance (PM’s); scheduling maintenance associates and contractors, coordinating all details with the Manager and Leaders and clearly stating in writing the schedule and planEnsure Work Orders are assigned correctly and completed on time while tracking and assessing individual associates workloadTrain Maintenance Associates on the PM Program, Work Orders and Standard Operating ProceduresCommunicate expectations to Maintenance Associate in regards to team work, attitude and work performance while continually assessing individual performanceVerify the Pre-Operational status of all equipment dailyMaintain and update Lock Out Tag Out bookEnsure all GMP’s, HAACP, PSM Program, Company Policies and Safety Programs are followed by the Department at all timesContinually audit and validate all departmental procedures revising when necessaryObtain excellent working knowledge of all equipment and their components throughout the facility as well as all utility systems.

Complete and maintain all required reportsOversee the parts/inventory for the department by working closely with the Parts Clerk toIssue parts with attached work orders to the proper shifts/associatesReduce cost of material and supplies by researching and negotiating the best priceNegotiate and work with local vendors when possible to obtain parts and suppliesOther duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS

The Maintenance Supervisor must have the ability and experience to: lead, direct, evaluate and train a staff of 15 maintenance technicians; measure, monitor and reduce machine downtime; diagnose basic electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, plumbing, and electronic (PLC) problems and direct/assist with repairs; promote a ‘Safety First’ culture amongst staff; and, develop and maintain an effective preventative maintenance program for equipment and plant.

Education:

Associates degree or college program certificate preferred; or 5+ years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.

Experience:

3 years of experience as a maintenance lead or supervisor with direct reports preferred. Experience in directing, evaluating and training maintenance technicians preferred.

Communication Skills:

Must be able to speak clearly, listen and understand ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Ability to express ideas and concepts clearly in writing and understand the same.

Computer Skills:

Must have basic PLC experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook at the intermediate level. Experience with SAP a plus.
