Service Manager Position Summary:

The Service Manager plays a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely repair of vehicles for Working Wheels’ transportation programs. This position coordinates vehicle repairs with partner shops, manages logistics including vehicle transport and parts ordering, and maintains accurate records in the vehicle database. The Service Manager supports the Automotive Technician by organizing parts and identifying tasks suitable for shop volunteers, and contributes to a positive participant experience by conducting vehicle and maintenance orientations. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities while maintaining a focus on safety and service quality. The ideal candidate brings experience as a service writer or has a background in project and team coordination. Above all, the Service Manager must be committed to advancing Working Wheels’ mission of providing safe, reliable, and affordable transportation to those who need it most.

Duties include the following:
  • Schedule repairs for Working Wheels vehicles at partner shops.
  • Utilize Lyft to pick up and drop off cars at partner shops.
  • Review and approve repair estimates, confirm completion of repairs, and process payments to partner shops.
  • Maintain accurate records of all repairs, expenses, and steps in the process in the vehicle database.
  • Order auto parts, verify accuracy upon delivery, and organize parts for the Automotive Technician.
  • Other duties as assigned
Status:

32 hours per week; Monday through Thursday from 8:00AM to 4:00PM Responsible to:

Car Flow Manager Education:

ASE Certification preferred but not required

Experience:

3 years of related experience as service writer preferred or experience managing projects and people

Salary and Benefits:
  • $23.15 per hour
  • $400 monthly medical stipend
  • 3% retirement match (fully vested)
  • $600 per year in professional development
  • 12 paid holidays per year, 2 floating paid holidays, plus your birthday
Paid Time Off:

15 days in year 1, 18 days in year 2, 20 days in year 3, and 25 days in year 4

Ability to read and analyze data daily and to communicate with staff and public daily via telephone and in person.

Ability to inspect and operate vehicles; may be required to stand for long periods of time.
