- Summary of Position
- The Maintenance and Facilities Manager is a key site leader, responsible for oversight of Claremont Fiber maintenance and facilities teams.
The position will direct the activities of the maintenance teams, employing safe work practices in a multi-shift operation through the execution of an effective preventive/predictive maintenance program, an on-going skills-based training program for maintenance personnel, the minimization of breakdowns and the overall efficient operation of all equipment through failure analysis and correction, participation in planning efforts toward facility and/or production equipment modifications or additions, continuous improvement in operations and operational excellence, and the adherence to all Company/Plant policies and procedures.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Leadership of Maintenance and Facilities teams, including but not limited to: + Maintenance Supervisor who is responsible for: Supervising and coordinating the activities of maintenance technicians (TSAs).
Supervising and directing Scheduler/Planner; Developing, scheduling, and controlling the preventive maintenance program to maintain production and support equipment in proper working condition. Supervising MRO Clerk to ensure adequate/accurate inventories of maintenance materials, critical spares, supplies, and repair parts at required levels; periodically reviews inventory for proper upkeep. + Facilities Engineer Provide overall technical and leadership support in Maintenance and Facilities functions. Provide support in the manufacturing of optical fiber with a focus on
Facilities Equipment Management:
HVAC/Chillers/Air Compressors/Process Water systems/Boilers/High Purity Gas Delivery systems etc… Maximize production and facility support equipment effectiveness, including: + Safety for employees operating equipment. + Ensuring site regulatory compliance in conjunction with EHS department. + Maximizing availability and uptime through deployment of Maintenance best practices/systems, including CMMS/workflow management, and effective preventive and predictive programs + Readiness to support strategic business growth. Set/maintain standards for how to manage daily maintenance activities, including reactive and preventative maintenance efforts. Develop and manage the tracking and reporting of equipment reliability and effectiveness KPIs. + Implement action plans to address performance gaps identified. Collaborate with the Plant Director to establish yearly maintenance, utility, and waste disposal related operating budgets. + Maintain operations within the constraints of approved annual budget(s). Shape and manage the multi-year capital strategy for the site, aligned to corporate goals and strategy. Recommend, plan, and implement capital equipment needs to improve production efficiencies and/or achieve cost reduction. + Effectively manage capital spending plan; Includes writing capital requests and project charters, developing bid scopes, managing contractors, etc. Coach and mentor the Maintenance team, including development/administration of the TSA training/compensation program and other training opportunities to enhance the skill set(s) of the maintenance team. Partner with EHS for site regulatory and PSM (Process Safety Management) activities/compliance, including Arc Flash, ECP/LOTO, Confined Space, Working at Heights, Hot Work, Hazardous Waste Handling, Storm Water, etc… Collaborate regularly with Automation, Engineering, Operations and Maintenance personnel to resolve both short and long term issues. Generate and deploy equipment reliability projects to improve overall equipment uptime and effectiveness. Champion development and deployment of Management of Change (MOC) process for capturing, documenting, and managing changes to equipment and/or processes that could impact production or final product attributes in the areas of Safety, Environmental, and/or Quality. Coordinate the activities of all contracted personnel, including maintenance service workers, waste haulers, HVAC contractors, electrical contractors, etc; Including generating scopes of work and other contract negotiation. Identify, implement, and/or support continuous improvement (CI) projects/efforts throughout the facility.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. + Bachelor’s degree (BSME or BSEE preferred) or at least ten (10) years of supervisory experience (Maintenance-related preferred), utilizing a combination of technical, managerial, and financial expertise. + Strong data analysis skills and knowledge of statistical tools + Excellent communication skills, with demonstrated collaborative interpersonal interactions + Exhibits energy and positive attitude to facilitate change (ie. Change Agent) + Well organized and disciplined in prioritization of responsibilities + Knowledge and consistent use of Lean tools (ie. 6S, Kaizen, Operational Excellence, etc…) + Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude and excellent problem-solving skills and tools utilization (ie. RCA, FMEA, 5Y, etc.) + Understanding of state and federal regulations, knowledge of operational procedures, knowledge of building systems, electrical and mechanical functions, and overall best practices + Demonstrated project management experience; Managing project process from concept, to design, to bid, to build/installation, to budget, to turnover/closure. + SAP experience preferred.

- This is a fast-paced work environment with consistent pressure to complete duties as outlined above which requires ability to manage multiple projects at a detailed level and provide support to many internal departments in a fast-changing environment.
