As we continue to scale, we are seeking a Shop Foreman to lead our shop operations and drive efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Position Overview The Shop Foreman will be responsible for managing shop employees, overseeing the install crew, maintaining production schedules, ensuring inventory accuracy, and implementing technology and process improvements. This role requires a hands-on leader who has successfully organized and structured operations, developed processes from the ground up, and driven measurable improvements in efficiency and output. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, operational, and problem-solving skills, with a track record of implementing change and improving productivity in a steel fabrication environment.
Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Management:
Supervise and mentor a team of welders, fabricators, and installation crews. Coordinate daily work schedules, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising quality. Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures, maintaining OSHA compliance. Conduct training sessions to upskill employees and improve shop efficiency. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Scheduling & Workflow Optimization:
Manage project timelines, ensuring efficient workflow from fabrication to installation. Work closely with project managers and estimators to align shop schedules with job site needs. Identify and resolve bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and delays in production.
Inventory & Equipment Management:
Oversee raw material inventory, ordering supplies as needed to maintain production flow. Implement inventory tracking systems to reduce waste and improve cost efficiency. Ensure all shop machinery and tools are properly maintained, scheduling routine inspections and repairs.
Process & Technology Improvements:
Assess and introduce new processes, automation, or technology to improve shop operations. Work with ownership to digitize or streamline operations where manual processes currently exist. Implement shop floor tracking systems to monitor production progress and employee performance.
Quality Control & Safety Compliance:
Enforce quality standards, ensuring all fabricated products meet client and regulatory specifications. Conduct safety audits and risk assessments, proactively addressing potential hazards. Ensure compliance with all relevant manufacturing and workplace safety regulations. Qualifications & Experience ✅ 10-15 years of experience in a steel fabrication or metalworking environment, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or foreman role. ✅ Proven ability to organize, improve, and systematize operations in a manufacturing or fabrication setting. ✅ Strong knowledge of steel fabrication drawings, welding processes, and shop CNC machinery. ✅ Experience managing installation crews and coordinating shop-to-field logistics. ✅ Track record of implementing change in prior roles, improving efficiency, and streamlining processes. ✅ Proficiency in inventory management, scheduling, and production tracking software (or ability to introduce and integrate technology into operations). ✅ Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety protocols, and quality assurance practices. ✅ Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. ✅ Experience working in a small-to-mid-sized manufacturing company where processes were developed or improved from scratch is a major plus.
