This position is located in the Mitchell County Maintenance Unit. Duties are to plan and schedule maintenance activities, assign crews and equipment to tasks, determine resource needs including materials, and inspect activities of crews in progress and upon task completion to inspect for compliance with standards and instructions. Employee will also check and monitor the work reports of subordinates and account for time, work completed, materials and equipment used. Assignments include responding to complaints/requests and routing inspection of problems and conditions in order to plan work; to relay information about policy, procedures and standards to all employees; assist with interviewing and recommending hiring of employees; maintain diaries and other required records; perform routine safety audits and monitor inventory. Additional duties include coordinating and supervising force account construction; monitoring expenditures and work accomplished to assure compliance with budgets and work plans; maintaining tasks in MMS system and responding to after-hours highway emergencies, snow & ice and other severe weather events. Additional Expectations:

Direct, assist, and train subordinate employees. Must be able to perform cost estimates for budget needs. The selected applicant will make field investigations on unlevel terrain. Maintain accurate records of work accomplished. The selected applicant will supervise maintenance program implementation and monitor work operation to ensure efficient and safe use of personnel, equipment, and materials. Must supervise and evaluate performance of other employees and be able to communicate, establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, management, and the public. The selected applicant is expected to work in extreme temperatures and uneven terrain conditions for extended periods of time. Must be able to respond and work in emergency call situations and inclement weather. Safety toe shoes required. The selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle.
