Position Overview:

The Equipment Manager (EM) reports to the Golf Course Superintendent (GCS) or the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent (AGCS) in his/her absence. The EM is responsible for the coordination, training, and supervision of Assistant Equipment Manager and Equipment Technicians. The EM is responsible for all functions required for the maintenance, repair, and replacement of all construction, maintenance, golf cart, and on-road equipment.

Functions:

• Works collaboratively with GCS and AGCS on a daily basis to ensure efficient and productive work schedules
• Plans, maintains, and executes scheduled preventative maintenance on all club-owned or leased tools, equipment and vehicles
• Diagnoses, directs, and supervises all necessary repair work on all equipment
• Schedules and supervises daily performance and safety inspections of equipment
• Schedules and coordinates all warranty repair requirements with appropriate vendors
• Maintains service and maintenance records on all equipment, as well as fuel-usage data
• Constructs, tracks, and maintains equipment repair and maintenance budgets
• Participates in management and staff meetings; and communicates needs, plans, and expectations
• Hires, trains, motivates and directs the responsibilities of AEM and ETs
• Schedules EM, AEM and ETs to allow for reasonable coverage of responsibilities at all times
• Assists in the training of all employees in proper safe and efficient use of all equipment
• Maintains accurate and financially-efficient inventories of all equipment, replacement parts, supplies, fuels, lubricants, and tools
• Assists the GCS in building and executing a long-term equipment replacement and acquisition plan
• Represents the club in building relationships with all equipment, parts, and supply vendor representatives
• Maintains a clean, safe, and efficient maintenance facility
• Maintains a schedule of continuing education for EM, AEM, and ETs
• Evaluate and execute annual performance reviews for

AEM and ETs Requirements:

• Possess a working knowledge of the care, maintenance, and operation of construction equipment, golf course equipment and automotives
• Possess a working knowledge of the theory, care and operation of diesel and gasoline engines, electric motors, electrical and hydraulic systems, sprayer systems, and reel and bedknife grinding and adjustment
• Possess skill in the use of a wide variety of repair tools and equipment, including welding and fabrication
• Possess the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical malfunction
• Possess strong leadership and communication abilities, and interpersonal skills
• Possess a dedication to personal improvement and organizational advancement

Preferred Education and Qualification Requirements:

• Minimum high school diploma
• Possess, or ability to obtain CTEM designation and EMCP certification
• Minimum 5-years experience as an Equipment Technician or Assistant Equipment Manager or 2-years experience as an Equipment Manager
• Possess a valid driver’s license
