THE POSITION

Are you ready to share your experience in building maintenance and construction with inmates learning new skills? The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mercer is seeking a motivated Corrections Maintenance Foreman. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Maintenance Foreman, you will oversee inmate work crews in maintenance, repair, construction, groundskeeping, and janitorial tasks. You will plan inmate schedules, instruct proper operation of machinery, and inspect completed work. You will also assist other trades staff in carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, refrigeration, masonry, and welding. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills to ensure adherence to performance standards. In addition, you will inventory materials and tools used to complete work assignments, submits purchase requests for materials, and exercise care, custody, and control over inmates at all times. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday.
This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

Telework:

 You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Salary:

 Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $46,986.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Four years of experience performing building maintenance, construction, or general trades work; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
