The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) in Montgomery County is actively seeking a Highway Equipment Manager 1. As the Highway Equipment Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the inspection and upkeep of the equipment assigned to your district, along with managing the associated garages and workshops. The individual in this role is responsible for overseeing the planning, direction, and management of the highway equipment maintenance program within a County Maintenance Organization. This position entails a comprehensive analysis and development of the County’s fleet model and budget, ensuring the effective maintenance, repair, and dispatch of a diverse fleet that includes heavy construction and automotive equipment. The incumbent will supervise the operations of equipment repair facilities and manage related personnel, ensuring that all maintenance activities are conducted efficiently. Additionally, the role involves the maintenance of the physical infrastructure, including buildings, grounds, stockpiles, and facilities designated for equipment storage and maintenance. Direct oversight is provided to mechanic supervisors, as well as to support staff in the office, shop, and storeroom, ensuring that all operations run smoothly and effectively.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Two years of experience in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel engines and other components of heavy highway maintenance and construction vehicles and equipment including one year of such experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Conditions of Employment:
This position requires possession of a valid Class B or Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake restriction removed. This position requires Tank (N) or Hazmat (H) or Tank/Hazmat (X) endorsements. This position requires valid PA Class 7 or Class 4 Inspection Mechanic Certification.
Other Requirements:
You must obtain a Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with in the first six months of employment. You must meet the PA residency requirement .
