Position Description Advertised Job Summary Director of Facilities Services, reporting to the VC for Finance and Operations, is responsible for the management of facilities on 3 campus locations, including personnel providing event set ups, grounds, custodial, maintenance, and HVAC. Responsible for oversight of capital and renovation projects. Budget development and monitoring. Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and at least 8 years of job related experience, including some prior management experience. Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Ability to work independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve unit objectives; manage a department; and supervise the use of funds. Ability to develop and manage budgets and vendor contracts. Utilization of significant resources from other work units is routinely required to perform the job’s functions. Job Duties Job Duty Serves as the senior departmental supervisor for the Facilities Department and completes essential administrative functions (e.g. recruiting, interviewing, recommending, training, supervising, evaluating, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining necessary staffing, enhancing productivity of staff, and ensuring necessary department/program outcomes are achieved. Directs the development and implementation of effective processes and plans for maintaining and upgrading campus facilities with minimum backlogs and/or downtime and prioritizes resource utilization as necessary to operate within approved departmental or project budgets. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 35 Job Duty Develops and maintains an annual operating budget for the department to cover personnel and resources necessary to complete essential services and assigned projects. Monitors budget balances regularly to ensure operations are occurring within budgeted resources. Directs the development and submittal of the USCB capital budget request annually in accordance with the guidelines and deadlines set by the USC system capital project office. Serves as the final departmental approver for purchases of maintenance equipment, materials and supplies essential in completion of routine maintenance work orders and assigned departmental projects within system and state guidelines and works to ensure efficiencies wherever possible. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 25 Job Duty Effectively communicates and collaborates with campus and system leadership, campus directors, faculty, staff and students regularly to clearly identify needs and issues, preferred solutions and implementation status of projects and work requests. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 15 Job Duty Responsible for development and implementation of plans for routine and preventative maintenance, emergency response plans, HVAC and other infrastructure replacement projects, energy management plans, etc., for the purpose of ensuring that campus facility resources are effectively maintained and managed with minimal backlog and/or downtime. Identifies, prioritizes and expedites emergency repairs of facilities for the purpose of the safety of our students and faculty.
