Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee safety initiatives, optimize department operations, and drive continuous improvement within our facility. This role requires a strategic leader who can manage budgets, coordinate projects, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations while fostering a culture of employee engagement and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure proper use of PPE as outlined in department hazard assessments. Lead and participate in safety training, audits, and Behavior-Based Safety programs. Identify and address potential safety hazards; take corrective action when necessary. Conduct weekly department safety walk-throughs. Manage maintenance-related safety projects and foster proactive department safety teams. Participate in facility-wide safety and compliance assessments (5S, Hazard Awareness, Accident Investigations, NRJA, etc.). Maintain and update the plant’s Risk Management Plan. Oversee compliance with DHEC regulations, including groundwater/wastewater, air permits, and lab certifications.
Operations & Leadership:
Facilitate daily and weekly maintenance meetings, including Tier 1 and Tier 2 reviews. Participate in cross-functional leadership meetings to align goals and strategies. Implement Lean, TPM, and 5S methodologies to improve efficiency. Monitor work-in-progress, spare parts inventory, and raw materials. Develop department schedules, allocate manpower, and address resource shortfalls. Oversee preventative maintenance and calibration programs. Ensure purchasing activities align with department needs. Maintain visual control systems, such as CI boards, for real-time operational tracking. Drive employee engagement, recognition, and professional development initiatives. Evaluate department training needs and oversee employee performance assessments. Approve requisitions, budget allocations, and merit-based salary increases. Manage stockroom personnel and maintenance/purchasing coordinators. Lead plant project engineering efforts and manage capital expenditure requests (CERs).
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering.
Skills & Experience:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively. Capable of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines. Proficiency in applying technical knowledge to solve complex issues. Experience working with employees, vendors, and contractors. Excellent attention to detail and ability to exercise independent judgment.
