SUMMARY:

This is a full-time position that works daytime and evening hours. The job is responsible for coordinating and performing light maintenance work and repair, and maintaining cleaning and sanitation standards at The Academy for Teaching and Learning.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Inspect interior and exterior of buildings and grounds; prioritizing, scheduling, and performing specific cleaning and/or basic routine maintenance as necessary.
• Monitor custodial equipment and supplies, and order replenishment.
• Event setup coordination (Sets up and removes folding chairs and tables for school events
• Coordinate contracted help, when needed
• General maintenance to the school buildings and grounds
• Create and implement basic routine maintenance schedules
• Maintain cleaning equipment, such as buffer and floor scrubbers.
• Routinely schedule, train, and evaluate work performance of custodial staff
• Train new employees in proper custodial procedures for the use of equipment, cleaning compounds, solvents and chemicals.
• Maintain inventory of replacement equipment and make suggestions for purchase to replenish inventory.
• Work and foster a team environment to encourage productivity and job satisfaction.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Four years of experience in custodial services, two of which must have been supervisory, which includes knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment and supplies, is required.
• Four years of custodial supervisory experience is preferred.
• Additional education and experience beyond the minimum requirements may be substituted for either custodial or supervisory experience.

Skills:

Supervisory skills; management skills, such as planning and organizing; strong oral and written communication skills; and the abilities to train new employees are required.
