Parks & Public Grounds Supervisor- Facilities Maintenance/Custodial Services 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars 1018 2nd Ave S, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582 General Statement of Job Under limited supervision provides leadership and direction for specifically assigned, subordinate crewmembers in the maintenance of city properties, public grounds, and Parks and Recreation facilities and amenities. Coordinates, oversees, and participates in construction, repair, maintenance, and pest control activities.

Minimum Training and Experience Education:

High school diploma or

GED Experience:

Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in grounds maintenance, management, or construction

Certifications:

Valid driver’s license Experience in property maintenance, construction, or management including three years increasingly progressive supervisory experience. Extensive knowledge of and experience with Mechanical/Electrical and Plumbing systems. Experience and knowledge in operation of telehandler and man lift. Certified in same when available.

Preferred:

CDL Class B.

Note:

The City retains the right to determine equivalencies. Any certifications not possessed at hire, must be obtained before the employee is removed from probation in order to continue employment with the City. Physical Requirements Must be physically able to operate ride-on and walk behind mowers, small engine landscape equipment, a rubber tire backhoe, front end loader, tractor, roller, dump truck and grader. Capable of utilizing tools such as saws, drills, hammers, mowing and trenching tools, and hand tools. Must be able to exert in excess of one hundred pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of fifty pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of twenty pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of ten to one hundred pounds. Other Information Performs required technical, administrative, supervisory, advisory, and financial work associated with maintenance and repair of Parks and Recreation buildings. Supervises custodial staff responsible for presentation and cleanliness of City Buildings and facilities. Ensures timely address and completion of work orders submitted as well as approval of and payment for products and services rendered. Is familiar with and has the ability to create and implement a facility maintenance plan, including but not limited to cleaning schedules, preventative/corrective maintenance of structural components, and mechanical/electrical/ and plumbing systems. Maintains service and repair records for same. Performs administrative work including identifying and accepting requests for maintenance needs, prioritizing, delegating, and reviewing work, and long-range planning for future capital replacement, improvement, and renovation needs. Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment and system problems. Assigns tasks for most efficient use of available resources. Delegates to and coordinates interaction between staff and contractors. Holds contractors accountable including callback for warranty repair. Ensures routine inspections and maintenance of buildings and facilities are carried out as scheduled and that substandard conditions are remedied in a timely fashion. Maintains inventory to ensure availability of materials to service the needs of Facility Maintenance including researching, requisitioning, and accepting delivery of purchases all within City procurement requirements.
