Maintenance Manager 3.0 3.0 out of 5 stars Cayce, SC As a Senior Maintenance Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our food manufacturing plant. You will lead the maintenance team, implement and manage preventive maintenance programs, troubleshoot and repair a wide range of equipment, and oversee ammonia-based refrigeration systems. This role includes managing capital projects, ensuring budget compliance, maintaining high standards in safety and quality, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Responsibilities:
Design and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. Troubleshoot and repair plant equipment (electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing) to maintain operational efficiency. Oversee ammonia-based refrigeration systems, ensuring safe and reliable performance in compliance with regulations. Develop and manage work order systems, backlog tracking, and job assignments to ensure team efficiency and responsiveness. Lead and execute capital projects in alignment with long-term operational goals (1, 3, and 5-year plans). Establish and track KPIs to measure and communicate maintenance performance. Manage departmental budgets, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently. Promote a continuous improvement mindset throughout the maintenance team. Maintain compliance with GMPs, quality, and safety standards across all operations. Develop and enforce SOPs and monitor team adherence to ensure consistency and compliance. Oversee facility changes, renovations, and maintenance of building structures. Source and supervise the installation of new equipment and upgrades. Maintain strong housekeeping practices and oversee waste, air, and water quality management. Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations including OSHA, FDA, BRC, and environmental agencies. Support regulatory inspections, audits, and certification processes. Prepare and manage the annual maintenance department budget. Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
Associate degree (preferred) in Electrical Construction & Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or Refrigeration Technologies. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a food manufacturing environment; experience in bakery or automated food production preferred. At least 5 years of demonstrated success in maintenance leadership, with strong food safety and quality system experience. In-depth knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems. Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Basic understanding of PLCs and automated equipment. Familiarity with equipment setup, operating procedures, and preventive maintenance. Strong understanding of GMPs and regulatory compliance in a food manufacturing setting.
