The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. •A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and the Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations•Nature of Work This position is an entry-level position that performs semi-skilled work in support of the City’s parking operations, including the collection of parking fees and the installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical and electronic parking meters. This position differs from upper-level parking management positions as it gradually undertakes more complex and skilled duties through on-the-job training. Work responsibilities include but are not limited to manually collecting and transporting parking meter fees, assisting with the processing of collected funds, documenting collected fees, and carrying out maintenance, repair, and installation of parking meters. General supervision is provided by the Parking Management Supervisor. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or G.E.D. and six months of experience in the repair and/or maintenance of mechanical or digital devices and equipment.

NOTE:

Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered. Special Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record as needed to operate city vehicle.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements to include extreme heat, cold, rain, and lightning. Work is performed in uncontrolled work environments, including but not limited to work zones and in close proximity to heavy traffic.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

Physical ability to walk, bend, stoop, crouch, squat, and kneel for extended periods of time as needed for the collection of meter fees and the maintenance and installation of meters. Physical ability to walk on average, five miles weekly as needed to perform the functions of the job. Physical ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull coins and equipment weighing up to 70lbs. Kind of Examination Applications are being accepted to fill one (1) vacancy and any vacancies that may occur during the life of the register. The current vacancy is with the City of Montgomery Parking Management Department . Applicants will be screened and qualified based on the education and experience shown on the application and supplemental questionnaire. If more than five qualified applications are received, the supplemental questionnaire will be used to rank applicants on the register. Tied scores will not be broken. If there are five or less qualified applicants, they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
