Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Utilities Superintendent, the Utility Worker II operates and maintains the utilities water production and distribution system and the utilities wastewater treatment and collection systems using prescribed processes, procedures, and practices. Also performs wastewater laboratory testing. Performs on-call duties and other related duties as required. he successful candidate will be passionate about supporting and driving the

Work Performed:
Operates, adjusts, and regulates and maintains chemical feed pumps, sludge removal systems and related wastewater equipment. Performs wastewater sampling and testing. Takes periodic daily readings from all water and wastewater facilities and records the readings. Operates, inspects, and maintains water distribution system valves and hydrants. Read, check installs and repairs customer water meters. Performs utility mark outs and complete on One-Call express portal. Maintains the utilities facilities, collection system, and contract operations areas keeping them in a clean and sanitary condition. Notifies supervisor of any problems. Inspect and identify water and wastewater pumps for effective operations and notifies Supervisor of any issues with equipment. Performs and completes customer service requests as directed by customer service department Mobile Workforce Management (MWM) orders. Creates Work and Asset Management (WAM) work orders for identified work and upon approval and assignment performs the work described, updates WAM work orders as appropriate. Completes timesheets in WACS on a daily basis to ensure accurate time and account for work orders and projects. Maintain records and files including digital forms and files in word, excel, GIS, MWM, WACS and other company systems. Performs on-call, and after-hours duties as scheduled or required, as well as, available for emergency or call-in basis. Provides emergency response for utility operations as 1st response during work hours and after hours in on-call. Performs meter reading, setting, and administrative record keeping for meter replacement and periodic testing program. Stay up to date on all company required trainings, to include but not limited to, OSHA Subpart training. Keep company assigned vehicles clean and free of debris and ensure equipment is stowed safely. Safely operate all tools and use in the manner instructed by the manufacturer. Adhere to and promote the Company safety policy and practices as it pertains to the job. Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and problems in a courteous and polite manner. Ability to work through issues towards successful completion. Ability to access the SCADA system, to monitor and identify the status of the system in order to adjust treatment and/or processes. Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
1-3 years of experience in operating, adjusting, regulating, and repairing and maintaining pumps, valves, motors and other related water and wastewater equipment. Mechanical aptitude a must. High school diploma or equivalent. Must have a T1, W-1, C-1 or
S-1 NJDEP
license or the ability to obtain within 3 years. Must have a valid motor vehicle license. Ability to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing in English. Computer skills including spreadsheet, word processing, and system IT applications.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Range:
$41,459 – $62,188 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
