METER SERVICES FLOATER

8:00am•5:30pm Monday•Thursday; 8:00am•
Noon Friday Job Description:
Under occasional supervision, reads and records meter readings on assigned route; performs other customer service duties as required. Connects and disconnects of water, electric and gas services. Maintains monthly records. Reports to the Meter Services Supervisor.
Required Skills and Qualifications :
Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by one year of experience with meter reading/maintenance and/or general electrical service and repair work, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Requires a valid S.C. driver’s license.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
In addition to the meter reading functions, our Meter Services Floaters provide a variety of services for CPW customers, including but not limited to, turning on gas and lighting pilots for existing customer or new/remolded structures; responds to customer inquiries, requests for assistance and verifies readings in cases of unusually low or high consumption. This position collaborates with customers locating leaks and turning off gas in emergency situations. The ideal candidate for this position should enjoy collaborating with customers, be able to communicate in a professional manner, and be willing to work outside regardless of weather conditions. This position does require working on-call as part of a rotation and must live within 20 miles of CPW’s Main office and be able to respond to after-hour calls within 40 minutes.
