Salary $35,360.00 – $53,040.00 Annually Location Ocoee, FL Job Type Full-Time Job Number 202500022 Department Public Works Division Maintenance Operations – Facilities Opening Date 06/10/2025 Position Performs skilled manual work of ordinary difficulty and responsibility in performing trades activities in the maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities and equipment. Purpose of the work is in general upkeep of municipal structures and facilities. Duties include performing related semi-skilled work in coordination with the efforts of other maintenance and trades employees. Working conditions and assignments will vary depending on the unit assignment. Employees in this classification assist lesser skilled staff in learning the more complex aspects of the work through on the job training. Assignments are made orally or in writing and work is reviewed through observation of results, conferences and periodic reports or evaluations. Job Duties The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. Performs general and specialized maintenance and repair work, including such activities as carpentry, painting, glazing, masonry, roofing, and pipefitting on municipal buildings, equipment, and facilities. Installs, maintains and repairs pipes, valves, faucets, sinks and other fixtures.
Constructs, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood and wallboard using carpenter’s hand and power tools. Fabricates and repairs wooden cabinets and furniture using various hand tools and woodworking machines and devices.
Maintains, repairs and constructs a variety of structures using the entire range of construction materials and products.
Repairs and refinishes furniture; installs partitions, stagings and platforms; paints and decorates interiors and exteriors of buildings. Performs the rougher and/or less complex work involved in a variety of maintenance and repair operations. Reviews and interprets manufacture’s instructions, diagrams, sketches, charts and schematics. Operates municipal vehicles/motorized equipment.
Performs plumbing work such as repairing lavatory facilities, water fountains, installs sinks, garbage disposals, urinals, and water closets. Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, circuits and fixtures.
Install, maintain, modify or repair HVAC fixtures and equipment including compressors, condensers, and evaporators.
Leads and guides lesser skilled staff in acquiring greater trades skill through on the job training. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are logical/appropriate assignment to position. Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent, with four (4) years of skilled trade, craft or maintenance experience, demonstrating broad exposure to two or more of the trade disciplines, e.g., painting, carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pump mechanical; or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license. Supplemental Information Considerable knowledge of the various hand and power tools, and the application of such to the various skilled trades. Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and practices in building, electrical and mechanical work. Considerable knowledge of hazards and safety measures necessary for trades and maintenance work. Ability to interpret and work from codes, technical sketches, schematics, diagrams and blueprints. Ability to train and lead others in performance of work assignments. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Ability to detect apparent defects in machinery or equipment operation; make corrective repairs or adjustments, or inform superiors. Employer
