Millwright – MS WPBField Station 3876BR Job Description Thisposition services (overhaul, diagnose and repair) all types ofDistrict water control structure gates. Recondition and rebuildgear boxes and equipment parts. Inventive ability to draw lay outplans for fabrication and manufacture of parts where nospecifications exist. Inspect machinery and equipment to detectmalfunctions or need for repair, replacement, adjustment orlubrication. Oversee repair work and provide technical direction.

Ability to properly and safely use hand and power tools, square,rules, micrometers and dial indicators. Ability to skillfully usemetal bending machines. Ensure that all equipment is operating atpeak performance. Perform all aspects of welding, especially castiron to steel, using gas torch, arc welding and flame cuttingaccording to specifications, lay out plans, blueprints, drawingsand/or sketches, using the appropriate equipment and techniques.

Other Duties as Assigned. Employment Guidelines ( May be filled asa Hydraulic Maintenance Mechanic ) The West Palm Beach FieldStation work hours are Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00p.m. Offices are closed on Friday.

MILLWRIGHT EDUCATION ANDEXPERIENCE

Typically has High School Diploma or GED and 6 years’experience as a Millwright overhauling, diagnosing and repairingwater control structure gear boxes and associated ancillaryequipment. Five (5) years’ experience in fabrication and design inarc, heliarc, mig, tig welding and thermal cutting •The hiringrange for this position is $ 57,033.60 to $ 69,555.20 (based oneducation and years of relevant work experience).

Valid State of Florida Driver’s License (Required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Due to the District’s response role and inthe total scope of emergency management, this position may attimes, be required to provide support before, during and aftermajor storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes orother declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergencyresponse role. Regularly sets up, adjusts, controls, tests andoperates equipment to complete assignments. Work environment may behot and humid with no facilities. Moves or otherwise transportsequipment weighing up to 50 pounds or more. Agility, Balancing,Climbing. Drive/operate equipment. Exposure to gases and/or fumes(paint, welding, oil, grease, adhesive, chemical, herbicide, motorsolvent, carbon monoxide, dust). Eye-hand-foot coordination. Manualdexterity. Move/transport equipment. Noise exposure. Prolongedstanding. Pulling. Pushing. Recognize color differences. Vision(near vision-computer screen; far vision-driving/operatingequipment). Exposure to segmental vibration from use of impactdriven hand tools. Bending.

HYDRAULIC MAINT MECHANIC

: Thisposition performs heavy manual work in the installation, serviceand repair of fluid power equipment and hydraulic systems onDistrict water structures, gates, tools and navigation locks. OtherDuties as Assigned.

HYDRAULIC MAINT MECHANIC EDUCATION ANDEXPERIENCE

Typically has High School Diploma or GED (Required) and4 years’ experience in fluid power and hydraulic driven equipmentinstallation and repair work (Required)The hiring range for thisposition is $ 51,043.20 to $ 60,112.00 (based on education andyears of relevant work experience).

LICENSES AND

CERTIFICATIONSFirst Aid/CPR/AED (Required) Valid State of Florida Class BCommercial Driver’s License (CDL) without restriction to operatevehicles equipped with manual transmission and air brakes, or theability to obtain a CDL Learner’s Permit within 2 months and/or CDLLicense within 6 months from date of hire or placement in the job.(Required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
