Position Summary:

Join Beasley Forest Products as a Millwright II Dry Sorter and play an integral role in maintaining the efficiency of our dry sort operations. This position offers a unique opportunity to leverage your mechanical skills, ensuring the smooth operation of sorting machinery, and collaborating with maintenance teams to prevent downtime. In this role, you will work closely with shift supervisors and fellow millwrights, utilizing your expertise to troubleshoot and repair equipment swiftly. Your contributions will directly impact our production goals, making your work essential to our success.

Primary Duties:

Organize and participate in the installation, inspection and preventive maintenance, repair, overhaul, removal and testing of mechanical equipment such as pumps, motors, drive units, compressors, pneumatics, hydraulics, feed chains and sprockets, conveyors, heat exchangers, and various, piping systems. Inspects individual and system components for wear and measures tolerances. Must be capable of performing repairs on all equipment and breakdowns throughout the Dry Sorter area. Performs preventative maintenance on all equipment as prescribed by the manufacturer. Must be capable of giving technical direction to apprentices or trainees and ensure that they are performing their work properly. Must know and perform lock out tag out procedures on all equipment. Must be capable of performing pre-startup procedures on all equipment once it has been repaired, and ensuring that it is placed back into production and working properly. Once that task is complete, the lock-out tag-out procedure must be reversed before returning the machine to production. Must be willing to work lengthy hours to effectively have machine breakdowns repaired and have them return to functioning properly to minimize downtime for production. Must be efficient with Reading and Interpreting Blueprints, Schematics and Detailed Repair Drawings, related to Sawmill Machinery and Equipment. Transfer equipment to appropriate site for repair or maintenance to avoid contamination of any workplace, causing a safety hazard. Align and calibrate machinery and equipment parts as required for efficient and safe operation. Must conduct activities associated with confined space entry, and ensures the appropriate use of specialty equipment and devices for safe job site work. Must have the ability to respond to emergency situations including equipment breakdowns and to initiate remedial and repair procedures. Must have the ability to withstand periods of strenuous physical activity and to function within a confined and hazardous environment for prolonged periods of time. Must have the ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions and to interpret technical plans and specifications. Must have the skill to use and care for hand power tools and other equipment of the trade.

Secondary Duties:

Must be willing to perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor. Must possess strong time management skills Ensure that you inform your supervisor when spare parts are utilized, so that they can replenish stock as needed to maintain an adequate supply. Test damaged machine parts to determine whether major repairs are needed. Must keep all machines and working areas clean and orderly to avoid any safety hazards. Must always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment when performing different jobs within the sawmill. Must be capable of preforming machinery and equipment repairs, to minimize the amount of time the sawmill will be down affecting production needs. Must be willing to work in a dusty and dirty environment and be exposed to the elements even though most of the work will be performed under a roof.

Required Skills:

Must have completed a four to five-year apprenticeship or training program and have an additional three to five years of work experience, preferably in a sawmill or Dry Sorter operation. Must be capable of reading and writing, as well as reading and writing blueprints, drawings, and diagrams. Must be capable of lifting seventy-five pounds. Must be capable of performing basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers, decimals and fractions. Must have a complete set of their personal tools. Must have the ability to visualize from drawings and sketches, sequences of parts assembly, and relative positions of machinery components. Must have the coordination and manual dexterity to accurately assemble parts, make fine adjustments, and to use precision measuring techniques. Must know how to read and use calipers and micrometers. The position will require frequent and consistent physical movements such as stooping, bending, and reaching as an integral part of your job responsibilities. These actions are essential for the efficient execution of tasks and the successful completion of job requirements.
